In partnership with the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association, LOT has produced a comprehensive, eye-catching guide that features all our great state has to offer visitors. Consistent with the 2013 Louisiana Tourism ad campaign, the guide highlights Louisiana music.   U.S. Travel facilitates meetings with lawmakers
The U.S. Travel Association's Destination: Capitol Hill is the travel industry's premier legislative fly-in event. Travel professionals will converge on Washington, D.C. April 10 and 11 to speak directly to lawmakers about issues that impact the travel industry. Don't miss the chance to learn about upcoming legislation that impacts travel, mingle with key influential and travel industry professionals, and meet with members of Congress to stress the importance of travel as an economic driver.   Tennessee tourism to increase its budget
Chattanoogan.com - The governor-appointed Tennessee Tourism Committee, comprising about two dozen tourism leaders from throughout the state, recently issued the Tennessee Tourism Report, which conclusively demonstrates that significant state investment in tourism marketing is sound public policy with the potential to pay immediate and long-term dividends through job creation and increased tax revenue to fund essential services. Based on the finding of the report, Governor Bill Haslam announced his desire and intention to increase tourism promotion funding by an additional $8 million.

Brand USA   Brand USA to open offices in China and Taiwan
Travel Weekly - Brand USA is opening offices in China and Taiwan to market the U.S. as a destination to outbound travel markets. Brand USA, public-private entity with the mission of promoting travel to the U.S., will establish offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei, Taiwan. Brand USA hopes to create a Mandarin-language version of its website DiscoverAmerica.com. The next goal is to create a digital and social media campaign that will increase awareness of Brand USA both within the trade and among Chinese consumers.

TripAdvisor   TripAdvisor wants to become leading hotel metasearch player
HotelMarketing.com - Online Travel Agencies like Expedia and Travelocity use metasearch platforms to aid consumers in narrowing down their choice of hotels based on their preferences of location, amenities and rates. TripAdvisor, known primarily for its hotel reviews and cost-per-click advertising from hotels and online travel agencies will likely send fewer leads to advertisers because an added metasearch function will allow comparison and shopping to happen in one place.

Louey Award Winners   Congratulations to the Louey Award Winners!
Twelve members of Louisiana's tourism industry were recognized for their tremendous efforts to advance the state's tourism industry by the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association, and more than 200 of their peers at the Louey Awards luncheon, Thursday, Jan. 24, at the L'Auberge Casino Resort during the 2013 Lt. Governor's Tourism Summit in Lake Charles. Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne was in attendance to hand out awards and congratulate the following recipients:
  • Outstanding CVB of the Year, budget of $250,000 - $749,999: Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau
  • Outstanding CVB of the Year, budget of $750,000 and above: Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana CVB
  • Tourism Campaign of the Year: Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana CVB
  • Festival of the Year: MayFest hosted by the Vernon Parish Tourism Commission
  • Accommodation of the Year: Le Village Guesthouse in Eunice
  • Attraction of the Year: Sci-Port Louisiana's Science Center in Shreveport
  • Restaurateur of the Year: Drago's Seafood Restaurant of New Orleans and Metairie
  • Governmental Friend of Tourism: Speaker Pro-Tempore Walt Leger of District 91 in Orleans Parish and Senator Robert Adley of District 36 representing Bienville, Bossier, Claiborne and Webster parishes
